	Because I teach both in and outside of smart classrooms, I make use of Blackboard in multiple teaching environments. One of my favorite uses for Blackboard is as an interactive syllabus for class activities and homework . If you click on the image (left), you will see how I have customized the toolbar; this may give you an overall sense of how I utilize Blackboard as a tool for students. Among my most basic uses are the "Course Calendar," "Student Gradebook," "Peer Groups," and "Discussion Board." I also make use of the "Virtual Classroom" tools on occasion.
	Course Documents: I use the Course Document as an independent tool for students to download "extra help" sheets, and I assign students reading/worksheets from this page. I also post PowerPoint presentations used for classes here.
	Discussion Board: I like using the Discussion Board as a jumping off place for class discussion. I often use it as a tool to help them solidify connections, in writing-to-learn and writing-to-discover modes. Sometimes it can be useful for them to post small portions of their papers here for peer review, feedback, and/or modeling.
	Other Tools: The External Links are also a nice way of quickly accessing course content, allowing me to more fully integrate web demonstrations with one-click ease.
